I cant seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Car is a 68 with a 350. New starter, ign. switch. Now has HEI. The wiring at the starter has been screwy since I got the car. It starts and runs good but when I turn off the key it continues to run? I read in another post that with HEI nothing goes to the "R" term. on starter? So, Ive got the Bat + lead and large red lead and a red wire that goes to the Bat on the dist. lead to main large post and black to a ground on the starter mounting bolt. There is another small red lead that was at "R" now loose and a red lead to "S".
That must be it, where does it tie into the switch circut??
On the back of your ignition switch will be a 12 pink for the ignition-you can run a new wire from the dist. and tap in there.(dont use the 20 pink as that is for the key buzzer)
Another way is follow the old resistor wire that was on the pos. term of the old coil down to the bulkhead connector and replace that wire with a non-resistor wire.
(The old resistor wire and the 12 pink coming from the ign. switch meet at the bulkhead and are the same circuit.)
