TH400 shifter adjustment??
For some reason, I cannot shift my TH400 tranny into 1st gear manually anymore. The shifter stops when it hits the plastic of the console, before it can get into L. In drive, the indicator on the console is between N and D. How do I adjust this???

You adjust it on the transmission shift lever under the car. There is a slot and you adjust it by loosening the nut on the backside of the lever. Put the trans in park and loosen the nut, push the trans lever to the park position and tighten the nut. Works best on a lift with a helper. Run it through the gears and watch the operation to determine where the park position should be. Good luck . Ron B.
