I have 72 coupe that suffered a front end accident in its past, and now has a 73 front cli[p installed. How successful do you think I would be in changing just the two front fenders to the proper year and modding the nose portion of the hood surround to allow the use of the chrome bumper? I would also use the proper lower valance panel. I like the wiper delete hood and the lines of the hood surround by the windshield, but I really like the look of the chrome bumper and the egg-crate gills. Would I be better off with a door to door Clip?

Unless you're very experienced or talented w/fiberglass, from what you're describing you want to do...buy the clip
it definatly possible. but very hard, but replacing the whole front clip is very hard too. and expensive. My 68 had been glassed over, headlights gone bumber gone. all of that stuff so it looked like 70's car. if it wasnt for the tank sticker, i would have said forget it. there are no good ways to do this. like the others said, if you are talanted and good with glassing then it wont be so bad. i recommend ecklers videos, and buy all the books you can. little tricks work. If you have questions, i have done both ways and can try to help just pm me.
I agree with the above post. However, I did install 72 fenders on my 73 so I could have the egg crate grills, also glassed the hood in & made a tilt frontend. Not hard but very time consuming. Tough to do with family life and work... But if i were single it would not have been a big deal
i think what I am leaning toward now is to purchase a wheel well forward replacement clip. that way, I can leave the rear half of the clip (by the windshield) alone. I can then confine the mods to making the egg crates fit in the 73-style open gills. Any thoughts?
i wanted to get rid of my egg crates and make mine look like a 68,69. so i called vancoor and they made me just the lower fender part with the gills $200.00. then i cut and glassed them in. that was probaly a sin to some but it was cheeper than buying a different car. i have a set of egg crates if you end up needing some.

I think it would be easier to get a door to door clip and glue it on rather than try to glass in a replacment front end to the exsisting piece that is still glued to the main body/birdcage
