Default Chrome Hooker Headers with O2 bung????

I just sold my Chrome Hooker Headers. The new motor needs to have an Oxygen sensor bung. I want CHROME Hooker headers with an O2 bung. Summit lists then as part # XHOK-2234HKR. You add the X in front of the part # to get the bung. Called them and they said discontinued by the manufacturer. Anybody know where to get them???

Why didn't you just tig weld a bung in a incospicuous area like the inboard side of the collector, and hit the weld with a little silver heat paint, no one would be the wiser.....

Ask Hooker if you can buy a bare metal header, weld the bung to the pipe (Summit has the bungs), then have it chromed.

Jet hot did it for me for like $25 before they coated the headers... Do you need chrome?

You could make/get a bung (stainless) tig it in and polish it

Got to have Chrome. I have seen the stainless and Jet Hot. They are just not the old school look I want. Really picky.

Understand you being picky. Stainless goes a shade of stale pi$$-yellow, paint never lasts long on exhausts & welding chrome just wrecks it. Assume you will be using a reducer from the collector to your pipes? Summit sell reducers that have the O2 bung in them, so you could get a pair & have them chromed. I've got my O2 sensor in the reducer & my wheezy, pernickety old L81 doesn't complain about it. Long periods at idle don't allow it to cool enough to upset the computer, so I think the reducer is a good spot for it. At least it's monitoring the gas from 4 cylinders. It may be keeping at a high temp due to the ceramic coating on the headers, but heated sensors are available if you run into problems with the sensor playing up at idle.

If you are realy picky (Like I am ) you might purchase the black painted headers and chrome tubes (or vice versa) then weld the bung first in the headers, then send just the headers out for chroming.

You might check into the cost difference for custom chroming the headers vs custom chroming the side tubes as there is a cost savings one way of the other. I bet having the side tubes custom chromed would be a lot cheaper but I did not look into it.

You pays your money, you takes your pick.

Why don't you just program the O2 sensors out? Why bother have them at all?

EDIT** Saw your other post about nitorus - never mind

That's just why I had my chrome pipes ceramic coated...the headers were a gold tone compared to the sidetubes...

I ordered my hooker setup from JetHot who got it from Hooker.
Had them drop-ship me the setup before any coating b/c i wanted to make sure everything fit and didn't want to have to bang on the coated headers for a fit later on.
Then I shipped the headers back for coating and had them back within 2 weeks. Shipping gets costly but when your picky you're able to justify it. I did somehow.
I have heard that the hooker coating is not that great (missed spots and fading) and only heard good things about JetHot.
You could get the bare headers, weld your 02 bung then send them back for coating to JetHot or anyone else.
Or like someone said, have JetHot or whomever weld it on for you prior to coating.
Good luck.

A computer-controlled engine without O2 sensors will run in open-loop mode all the time. It's going to be no more (and maybe less) efficient than a carb.

I'd order the set without the chrome, weld in the bung, then have them chromed locally. (Or at least the collector piece). I'm not overly impressed with the chrome from Hooker anyway. I think a local shop might do a better job...
