Default Straight Plug Wire Boots

In an attempt to get my plug wires off my hot exhaust manifolds, I ordered a pair of wire looms from Summit. They didn't work. They do a good job of keeping the wires organized and looking nice, but they still sit right on the exhaust manifolds. So the thought crossed my mind that when I replace my wires, (the old ones are cracked from overheating) I might go with straight boots to help get the wire out and away from the exhaust. Has anyone done this? My vette is a '77 L48. Thanks.

What about getting some of those fiberglass boot covers that slide down over the boots and protect them and the wire from contacting the manifolds?

That's what i did,, I used the MSD orange long boots from summit, and the holders you can see in the pic, this was after I pulled the air manifold and pump. works great.

Its to late but you could have run the wires underneath the manifolds as most OEM small blocks and using 90 degree boots. Your under hood appearance would be nice and clean with the wires out of sight and out of mind. Helping to prevent looking like a bunch of snakes crawling around.... .
