Default '72 headlights/wiper door open at start

With the troubleshooting guide and the colored dr rebuild routing diagram in hand:
Tested everything under the hood as specified
and installed new vacuum lines under the hood.
Did not pull the dash. I checked the line that goes through the dash for holding a vacuum and then spliced in the newly installed lines.

With the car running, everything works correctly.

The only wierdness is that the headlights and the wiper door pop open for a few moments at start up. Once the engine idles a bit, they'll close down and remain closed.

I'm at a loss as to what might be causing this - any ideas?

Look at the check valve.

Your system is not "HOLDING" vacuum-due to a leaking check valve #1or a small leak in the system somewhere.

To check the check valve-try to "blow" through the single port side-if you can its bad.
