very custom. Only ones i've seen have been converted to the L88 fixed headlight look and they required a wide array of parts. No one makes a C3 kit yet...
The halo lights are not HID lights. HID lights have an HID generator for each headlight the size of a cigarette pack. You can buy the halo headlight bulb casing on ebay and use universal halogen bulbs found at any auto parts store. If this is what you want do a search on here or a few members can clue you in on what is needed to do this install.
You can also build your own halo ring, its pretty easy.
There's a website on how to do it. I can find the link if you need it.
This isn't the one I was talking about but generally the same process...http://www.mx6.com/forums/2g-mx6-pro...-halo-eye.html

Pretty neat. I'd get that to fit...somehow...but not at $500 a bulb.
Thats $1k for a car. Bi-xenon? that mean there is a high and low beam in there? Not sure how it works that way. I think the only problem aside from the screaming wallet would be the length. It looks deep, may interfere with the flip-up springs and mechanism.
havn't gotten around to the HID's yet, but I plan on doing a conversion.....my brother is great with electronic stuff (he's an electrical designer) and he seems to think we can make it work.....
actually, i would love to see more pictures of your vette...it looks beautiful in your avatar picture!
Ha ha well my paint isn't good either. It's the factory paint and there is a lot of chips and scratchs but it looks great in pictures and from a distance!
1. $2000 for better forward lighting, I have stock everything lighting wise and can see perfectly fine in my C3
2. Would like very weird on a classic vehicle with agressive "old school" styling
3. Will require some custom fabrication up front.
4. #1 assumes you dont break anything in the process and have to fix or re-purchase.
I am building a housing similar to the C5R for my new hella projector lights right now. Much cheaper than the HID. Got the lights at http://www.rallylights.com , they also have the HID's too.

Please do a post or write up on this when your ready.
I really wanted to put fog lights where the front license plate goes like the C5R cars, but thats not high on my to-do list.
When I have some more time and money, I'm going to look if some HID projectors will fit in the stock C3 housing. Used projectors aren't that big and expensive but it will take some time to alter the housing to make the projector fit (if it will fit). The idea is to open up a clear 5.3/4" headlamp that has a plastic backside and just slide the projector lens just inside the clear 5.3/4" headlamp. Somewhat like the spitzkraft lens.
I would do it like Chad's paper that Steve posted.
The Cibie lenses get pricey. There are cheaper ones, but
most will require trimming the lens buckets and the headlight covers
at the connector opening. Other than that, it is a halogen lens with HID conversion.
There are some systems that will install easily with little to no mods.
I have one of these relay harnesses ... made by a forum member.
Craig does a fantastic job of producing a top quality harness.
Yes, you can DIY cheaper. http://cmc.speeddirect.com/amazing/items.asp? ... click on lighting and harnesses.
I have true HID headlights that put on my 2005 Chrysler 300 Touring that did not come with the HID's, only the Hemi has this option. You can get them from Xenonking.com. The installation is pretty straight forward. On my 78 Vette I have european hella halogens with 55/60 watt bulbs on the low beams and 100watt bulbs on the high beams which I put on 20 years ago (you need to use a relay on the high beams since the headlight switch will not handle the current without a separate relay). The Xenon King kit comes with a separate ignitor, amplifier, and a bulb for each headlight. I only have the low beam bulbs on the Chrysler since 99.9% of the time that's what is used at night and you would need 4 separate setups (and two kits) for all 4 headlights on the vette. The kit cost $300 in 2006 to put it on and the price may be less now since the cost has been going down every year. Compared to my Euro Halogens on the vette, the chrysler 300 HID's are far Superior!, 4X brighter and much whiter light, not yellowish like traditional halogens. There are different colors that you can purchase indicated by the Kelvin scale. The whitest light is 5000K which is what I purchased for the highest performance. The higher the number the more purple but actually less light performance. hope that this helps. Let me know.
