I have a small block that is putting down about 360HP To the wheels.
I am running hooker side pipes with a cork screw baffel in them. I was kicking around the idea of taking it to the track and runing it a few times with no baffels in it. I once drove it with straight headders, and it fell on its face due to no backprssure. What do you guys think will happen if i remove the baffels? Will it act the same? Do i have to do anything with the timing? how do the dragsters run with open headders like that and no backpressure?
Last summer I drove around without baffles in my sidepipes for a few weeks, its so loud that at anything about 3k rpms you cannot hear a gun go off next to you. Ive been told that you pick up a bit of power in the upper rpms with the strait pipes but have no data to back that up, you should go on and try it at the track, the worst that could happen is you dont run as quickly as you wouldve liked, as for the falling on its face, i have no answer for that, ive never had a problem.
