Default 4 Point harness

Looking to put in a 4 point harness in my 72 Vert. No roll cage in my car but would consider putting in some type of Shark bar or something like that. The Shark Bar is $$$ and could probably be fabbed up locally. Anyone done this for themself. Any pictures would be great. Also installing a set of C5 seats.

I probably should have sent you my expired 5 point cam lock. But anyway you really have to have a cross bar about mid back to loop your shoulder belts to.

The "Shark bar" would not be hard to fab if your year has the integril flat roll bar that the upper shoulder harness attaches to. I just pulled off the outer trim plastic panel to remove my retractable belt assembly when i installed my 5 point Sparco seat and 5 point.

Is there a reason you don't want a 5 or 6 point anti-sub type? Just curious...

I removed a set of 4-point G-Force harness from my '70 to go back to factory lap only belts. They are a medium blue color...if you are interested in buying I'll make you a great deal. PM me if you want to talk.

If they were black I'd be interested. Blue just will not go with a red car and a black interior.

Didn't go with my black on black either, that's why they're in a box.

I don't know why you want the harness, but here are some of my experiences. I installed a 4 point harness in my car because I go to open track days. I installed a bar between the two frame rails using the bolt holes for the original 3 point system. It all seems to work well.

I went to sign up for a track day and was told that a 4 point harness is not acceptable. The group putting that event on would rather I use the 3 point system I pulled from a late model car. Their reasoning is that the 4 point systems allow you to submarine under the belts is an accident. Just another reason to look at a 5-6 point if you are starting from scratch.

By the way, my bar is simply a piece of thick walled square tubing welded to plates. The plates bolt into the metal reinforcing plates that were originally used for 3 point belts. It was easy to make and install.

So the 5th belt just laps over the front of the seat, goes under the seat and attaches to your hardware near the seat bolts at the back of the seat?

I'm not-sure, but NHRA might mandate that it pass-THROUGH the seat, instead-of going over the front of the seat:
simply going-over the front of the seat may allow too-much forward movement before the anti-sub belt controls your torso.....

The 5 point in my wife's Z06 goes across the seat and hurts my "package" if I cinch up the shoulder belts too tight. My wife doen't seem to have this problem, I wonder why? My 72 has a "Frankenstien" Kirkey RR seat with the submarine belt comming up through the seat, my "package" is fine in my 72 Vette

I'll have to keep that in mind when I do this.
