Default manifold/carb clearance

I have a 71 BB that I installed a edlebrock performer intake on. It has the quadrajet carb installed with a drop down aircleaner. The aircleaner is hitting the hood. The filter is about 3 inches thick. The carb has a gasket installed that is about 1/8 inch thick. I need hood clearance. I remember reading on this forum that the edlebrock intake with a dropdown air cleaner would fit under a stock BB Hood. Need some help........thanks!!!

I'm using LT1 base lid, which gives a 2 1/2inch drop, leaves loads of room on my 78 vette

Are you using a Holley or a Q-jet.
Thanks

A BB is much taller than a SB. You are comparing apples to peanuts.

For the OP, try a 2" tall filter and replace the lid with a K&N filter lid to restore flow.

Ok, the carb almost hits without filter. What about gasket for Q-Jet, do they have smaller ones??????
