Default Size really does matter

Does any body know how wide of a wheel will fit a 78 C3? I'm currently running the original Rally wheels but would like to know how wide I can go without any other mods. I would like to stay with a 15 inch diameter but go wider if possible. Also need to know back spacing. Anybody know? I've posted this question before but go no response. I'm sure someone has got to know.

Backspacing is your limit, not overall width. Measure from your wheel flange inward until it hits something. Maybe the frame or trailing arm. Subtract a comfortable amount and that's your maximum back spacing.

So long as you have a wheel with that back spacing you can go as wide as you want out the other direction but if it sticks out past the fender you might want to think about flares.

Also keep in mind that when the wheel gets too wide opposite the back spacing more pressure can be put on the wheel bearing and cause faster wear.

I was running P295/50/R15's on all four corners of my '80 with no problems for about ten years! That size gives the Vette a very muscular stance. I recently switched to the BFG Radial T/A P255/60/R15's.

Good luck

Thanks for the input. I'm aware of how to measure the back spacing but was curious of what others have found to fit & work best. I want to be able to clear the fenders without flares since I don't have them. I've been thinking about them but haven't found a source for them yet.

4'' BS and 275/60/15 rear + 4'' front and 255/60/15 and you'll sleep on a feather pillow...
