Engine VIN Code
My 78 has an engine identification code of "4". I have been trying to buy parts for it and all the parts houses list are for an "L" or "H" identification digit. When I tell them a "4" they say those parts are discontinued. According to the Chevy book the "H" is for a 305 and the "L" is for a 350. Most of the time a 350 is a 350 but I am trying to find the oil gauge sending unit for the one wire 80lb gauge. The parts house lists the gauge for the "L" as only being a 60lb reading. the original AC part numbers are discontinued, anybody know a part number and manufacturer for what I need?

I went to one and they said they didnt show it. Guess it was one of those bad days for a counter guy. How did you look up Carquest on line? All I can find is their general info, which site?
I had also tried two Autozones, NAPA and O'Reilly's. Thanks for the info and part number!

Finally found the part at NAPA also but only when I crossreferenced the part number you gave me. I tried looking it up by vehicle but all it would show was an thermal sensor in the breather. Thanks again.
