Info on cam specs
Does any know the specs on a stock 1980 L48 cam? Everytime i see specs for someone installing a mild upgrade, it doesn't look all that mild to me. I would like to find a cam that would not affect idle or normal driving, just something that would respond better with a little foot action and possibly better fuel mileage.

I believe the L/48 cam is the same cam the 327/300hp 350/300hp
used chevy just put 76cc chamber heads on later engines to drop compression. Cranes blueprint of the 327/300hp cam
RPM range 800-4500
.050 duration 195/202
valve lift .390/.410
LSA 112
If fuel milage is your biggest concern just stay with the cam you have,
if you want a mild up grade in cam consider cams with figures
something like these two.

I'm guessing your 80 L/48 has 270s/3.08 rear gears, the first cam matches
the very low comp. of an L/48 better, may have the better
rpm cruise range for your gearing.
