Default TH350 Fluid level problem

We have a stock TH350 in a '76 C3. We replaced the radiator with one from summit racing without the oil cooler. We then attached a B&M transmission cooler to the transmission and it flows well. Once the engine is running the fluid level is fine but as soon as we turn off the fluid level goes sky high. Some guys here told us it might be that the cooler is too high but we have it horizontal at the lowest point in front of the radiator with all the connectors stock equipment. It gets so full when off that it leaks a liitle out the seals. But again when started the fluid level goes down to below full cold. Any suggestions?

i just think that the coolers hold so much fluid ( must be 2 litres including the lines ) and if its any higher at all than the oil pan it does drain back once the motor is off and give an unusually high reading. i think that as long as you warm up your engine and go through the gears then test your fluid level for accuracy it will be fine.where is the leak? i would just suggest draining your fluid and fixing the leak.

I've heard of the converter draining back due to internal seal problems....perhaps someone who knows these transmissions well will chime in.

as long as the cold level is below the pan gasket, it should be fine; otherwise, don't worry about the cold level on dipstick . . .
