Default What is this wire?

Sorry no pictures But its easy to describe. It comes out of the wireing harness right below the wiper motor. There are two orange wires that come out at that particular spot. One connects to the transmission which does something with the spark 4th gear.

The one in question has a single black connector on it and is orange/red as well. It may connect to the wiper motor but I am not sure.

Thanks

What color is the wire, Orange, Red or are you saying Orange with a red stripe??

Per the wiring diagram, a single orange goes to the blower motor.

Default Timing controls?

Some years had emmissions controls on the timing activated from a trans sw. I don't have a '73 wiring diag but sounds like u need one.

Hope this helps,

My wiring diagram (engine compartment) shows a Orn wire going the the blower motor.
Then it shows an Orn connecting to a red which goes to the starter and the horn relay.
My car had a orange wire connected to the TH400 trans for the downshift.
But the wire going to the blower motor is purple. I do see a small oragnish wire coming from the horn relay with an inline fuse link but I don't know where it leads to.
There is a small orange wire coming out of a bunch taped together goin in the firewall near the one going to the trans. That may be the same one from the horn relay.
The print shows a bunch of orange wires in the cabin going to stop lamp switch, headlamp switch, hazard flasher and warning buzzer. That would make since if it is the power supply for them.

The wire from the horn relay with an inline fuse is for the highest blower motor speed on A/C cars.
