I understand the use of the terms "quadrajunk" and "quadrabog". I used them many, many times before I learned how to tune these things. Of course, you know there are a whole bunch of people that get all testy when you use these terms, as if your were slandering one of their family members or something. :) Those of you who I'm referring to remember my E4ME thread. Anyway, they can be frustrating, just remember that they work fine, it's all a matter of finding someone to help show you how to tune them properly. It's not simple and takes some learning. Once you learn how to work with a Quadrajet, you will never want anything else again.
I finally got everything together in the right sequence (gasket wise) and everything is adjusted just right and guess what? IT RUNS GREAT! I guess Q-jet's don't leave much margin for error. I am a happy man and can now beat my wifes windstar which i couldnt before. Actually the car is now scary fast like its supposed to be. So this is how a Vette is supposed to run :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Lars,
Hope your ceegar and teenie made you feel as good as I did when I lit up the tires past my neighbors house and got a little spin in second too!!
Mick, Congrats!! :) I replaced my little in the carb fuel filter last night, and the darn thing was dripping a tiny bit of gas. Unscrewed it, and put it back together and the drip was a little worse. Unscrewed it again took a good look inside, and pulled out this teeny tiny little shredded clear plastic ring. Put it all back together again, and voila!! My tiny little gas drip had turned into a full fledged LEAK!! :mad I just happened to have a carb rebuild kit lying around, and sure enuf, it contained a nylon carb inlet gasket. Popped that in, and no leak! Sometimes it's the real simple stuff. MJ
What's the advantage of buying the Edelbrock quadrajet over an original and having it rebuilt? Is it just the fact that it is new? Sorry if this is a dumb question...I'm far from a carburetor expert. Who has the lowest prices on the new Edelbrock units?
I'm one of the lucky ones who has a E4ME. You get the addition of a MCS and a TPS to adjust. I've finally got mine running smoothly without any bogs and the cars running as good as a 305 can.
I bought mine from summitt racing before I was member of this forum and new about lars. I would definately have had him rebuild mine for $100 if I had known.

The only thing "better" about the Edelbrock is that it is a brand new carburetor. Most of the Qjets you buy from vendors are "remanufactured" carbs, ie, not new. I got mine because it was on sale, and paid $320.
(Had I acted sooner could have had it for $300 - Partsamerica had an introductory 25% discount and list price was $399)
My original plan was to rebuild my old Qjet myself, and I did not want to be without a carb for 3 months while I rebuilt it! :) The new plan is to ship it Lars. MJ
