Looking at oil pans. I have a SBC 383 and need a 7 or 8 quart pan. It needs to be no deeper than 7 1/4" at the sump. I have one that has kickouts and it is 14" wide at the rear sump so it hits my headers. Looking at this one. http://www.daymotorsports.com/product/1633/c/C159/#
Do you think this one will work?
Any other suggestions or proven ones that will work?
I'm running a Canton road race pan with Dynomax headers, and have good luck with it. 7 qt, 7 or 7 1/4" deep ... I can't remember. They have several to choose from.
You could try a Transdapt #3047 oil pan, I had one in my 72 LT-1 but had leakage issues. Hopefully issues are solved by now, pretty decent pan for the $$$ and good design for oil control. I use Canton pans now but not as happy with oil control in the Canton pan I presently use. Summit has them, here is a link to TD; http://www.tdperformance.com/TransDapt.html

That one at Day is probably gated for left hand turn circle tracker ... pickup probably dips right ... neither not best choice for street ...you need a pan that's gated for road race and uses a pickup that's centered.
Take a look at Champ pans ... you probably won't see their RR pans on their site but they have em www.champpans.com ... also check out www.cvproducts.com (they sell champ & others). If you have a welder & KNOW what you're doing ... you can mod a circle pan for RR/street ... you fab&add a gate to right side & use a center PU.
