This is hard to believe but it's true. My nephew has an 85 camaro with a ford nine , T5 and a very strong 383. He took it up to lebenon valley on the 26th. He ran 11.62 at 119 mph. Lifts the wheels a good 6 inchs. Have pics on the web site to prove it. The car hooks up real hard. he made 14 passes on this rental day. Now first of all the T5 should not hold up to this kind of abuse. But the best part is the clutch. It is an off the shelf Advanced Auto stock replacement clutch. And he did not even turn the flywheel. We also have a 74 Corvette with a 427 small block and 671 blower. Richmond 6 speed. This ones even better. Just to prove a point he put a stock used clutch in this car. He beat the tar out of this car and the clutch holds up just fine. So you guys tell me. Is there any real diff. in a good clutch set up compared to a stocker.

The T5 is probably holding up because of the stock clutch. It is probably slipping just a little on launch. Good for saving drivetrain parts and might be giving him better times due to the "soft" launch. If you are over 400 RWHP the life expectancy of the stock unit will be much shorter if it is raced much. JMHO.

Just got my 383 back from the machine shop...Has a Skat crank, a two piece seal, and required an externally balanced 400 flywheel and harmonic balancer. I'm using a Findanza Aluminum flywheel ($350) which came with a weight plate, and a Centerforce dual friction clutch. It runs just fine, especially since I fuel injected it.
