76 Mirror Mounts (I hate rust!)
Hello. I am TRYING to change out my mirrors on my '76..(old ones have wore out seals and do not stay in place after adjustment)...I TRIED to loosen mounting screws after taking off allen retainer screw..NO GO..FROZEN with RUST!...So, I TRIED to drill old screws out with NO luck..Just chipped away at screws..finally drilled out 2 rivets that hold mirror mount in place..SUCESSS...Mount fell out BUT now I got to get to it to get it out..
.I have door panel off (to replace hardware and adjust window) already...The only way I can figure to get to mirror mount is take out outside door handle (which I am doing anyway)...and get my magnetic telescopic pickup tool and slide down "shaft" on inner door..(I hope thats right)...I am thinking of easier ways to mount this mirror..ANY IDEAS ANYONE????.......
