My dad found someone that will rebuild the engine and tranny from our 70 Vette, so we plan to pull it out this weekend. Any chance I might be able to get some tips on pulling them both out as one unit? We do have several manuals that we'll be able to reference while doing it, but I always feel like person experience is always better then trying to comprehend the directions in the book.
So any tips or specific things to look out for? Things you know need to be removed for proper clearance to pull it out? Any help would be great.

I have a 71 with a STD trans. The trick is to over protect the fiberglass with a bunch of blankets just in case something slips.
With the hood, radiator and water pump off, there is plenty of room to pull the engine and trans forward enough in one unit.
Make sure you have a shop crane with a long boom. The noses on these cars are longer than most.
