I just noticed that the tie rod sleeves ID: 42111 are 1/2" shorter than the original sleeves. VBP is approximately 10 1/8", original is 10 5/8". Anyone else notice this? Give or take 1/8".

ask VB& P but I bet its because VB use jam nuts and originals employed a pinch clamp

I do believe that the jam nuts will take up the 1/2" difference.

Thanks for the info Mako, I just didn't realise they were not set up like the originals.

For a stock tie rod length, fine.....but as Norval discovered and was proven to me some years ago, the stock C3 suffered from severe bump stear, and so to add length to the tie rod sleeves out to 17" length, but I forget HOW what was measured.....pivot center to center, as I recall, not the sleeve itself....

at any rate, I wound up lengthening the stock sleeves quite a bit for MY rack install....

The original setup is outmoded - IMHO, the solid tube/jam nut setup is stronger.

I didn't know that at the time and was actually hoping for a stock type replacement. I have what I have now since it's been purchased so I'm going with it.

I seems that way, hopefully it will last a lifetime now.
