Default stubborn lock plate question

75 vette, tilt/tele column, trying to find a possible short related to turn signal.

Got the steering wheel and hub off and down to lockplate. have retaining clip offf, but lockplate is stubborn and won't come off yet. Had a buddy who works at the chevy garage come look, tried to pry it off 'gently', suspected it moved a bit because retaining clip slot was obstructed. He went home to check specs online for me. He sent some good blown up diagrams, but didn't have a good answer as to how aggressively I can go after the lockplate.

Any ideas? am I missing something obvious?

thanks

I really don't know what could be causing the locking plate to hang up. Here is a pretty good picture of the connections. Hope that it might help.

Let us know what you find.

Don't know why it was so difficult, but I 'levered' it off yesterday afternoon. It was kind of like pulling teeth. thanks for the help, as always!
