Default Quench vs. Compression (Importance)

I just got off the phone with AFR and the tech there told me to stick with my 9.4:1 compression for the supercharger. He said that I would have more detonation problems running a .093 head gasket at 8.5:1 than if I stuck with my .041 head gasket at 9.4:1. He said that having proper quench was more important than having the proper compression ratio to avoid detonation. Is this true? What do you guys think?

Now I'm thinking that maybe I should keep my compression where it is and buy one of those methanol injection kits to run with this blower.

This is a repost but it wasn't getting attention so I figured I should start another thread.

That is pretty well published and documented, too much quench contributes to detonation problems.

The quench should be as tight as possible...... taking in consideration the piston safety!

With good forged rods, you can have a true 0 deck piston and no less that 0.030" gasket !

The turbolence introduced by good quench can help a lot for detonation..... the flame propagation speed is the trick!!!

I believe too much quench clearance is implied here.

Just so happens that you can buy .039" thick Fel-Pro's. Put the piston at 0.000" with that and you're golden. When quench is about .060" or more, you're not only going to have a less efficient burn and be inviting detonation problems with compressions approaching the limits of the octane being used, but you'll also have a dirtier (emissions) engine.
