vacuum hose from brake booster
On a 79 what is the black looking filter that is in line to the brake booster?
I need another one but can't figure out whats its called.I looked in the vette parts books.
Do I really need it?.
Mine was damaged.

Yes you need it. You may be able to get it at the local parts store, if not you definitely should be able to get it at a GM dealership. Super economy-- try the junkyard, I think every GM vehicle with a power booster has one.

I actually saw one the other day at auto zone in the help Isle, the one with all the odds and end things for every car. It was all plastic and didn't have the metal ring around the center. If your not worried about it being original. They have them. :D lou

Yes you need it. It's a carbon (I believe) filter to stop gas fumes from eating the vacuum booster diaphragm. Big recall by GM in the 70's to add this.
