Hi fellas,
how do you know if a brake booster is going bad? this is what i got, i brought it to friends mech/shop b/c i had this aggravating squeaking noise like when you need to change the brake pads. the pads where good so the polished my rotors. the mechanic asked me if my brake pedal was always hard when braking? i got in it and it seemed normal at least to me..hehe. he said it should have more of a gradual tension as you brake harder. so i put it in drive let it roll then it the brakes think it should brake hard but instead rolled to a stop. hope i'm making sense. so....he says it may be the booster going bad. so now it got me thinking how i never noticed it before. any way to tell for sure? the fluids are full too. to make things worse there's a vette show this weekend!
Go to www.mbmbrakeboosters.com. Scroll over to the Tech section. Under "Faqs" select Booster. It is an excellent explanation of how a booster works. Then scroll down in the Tech section to "booster diagnostics". Tells you how to determine if your booster is working properly or not. Good luck. I hope your problem is not your booster. They arte a real PITA to replace.
i didn't see it on the "FAQ" but how do i check to make sure the vacum is working or correct? thanks also the car has only about 45k miles on it would the booster be bad already??

The miles wouldn't have much to do with it, the age of the car does. There is a diaphragm inside the booster that may have deteriorated due to age or a leaking master cylinder leaking brake fluid back into it. Brake fluid will destroy the boosters internals if it finds it's way inside.
