140 mph speedometer question, 79

my 79 L82 has the 85 mph speedometer in it, i want to change it to the 140mph unit like the early production models had. does any one know which color speedometer plastic trans. gear i would need to put in the transmission, its an automatic th350. w/ 3:55 rearend. thanks

I'm not sure I understand your concern. A simple swap of the 85mph unit for one that displays up to 140mph shouldn't involve your speedo gear. Someone else jump in here...

i wasnt sure about the trans. gear. maybe it doesnt need to be changed.

thanks for the link to corvette instruments, that is a much cheaper alternative. thanks for all the info guys.

I've emailed them as well and he quoted me $85 and they will also re-calibrate at that cost as well. I think that should take care of your sync issues.
