Default Transmission Vacuum fitting

Because I am using an AirGap manifold and a drop base air cleaner I have replaced the stock vacuum fitting with a low profile stainless steel fitting. Now my stock vacuum line to the transmission needs to be modified to align with the new fitting. Will it cause problems if I cut the metal vacuum line and bend it so it aligns properly and provides the required clearance for the air cleaner? There is some kind of a restrictor pinch on the line at the intake fitting. Can this can be cut off? If it is cut off will it change the vacuum signal or cause shifting problems?

Cutting and reforming will cause no problems as long as you don't introduce a leak. Vacuume is used as a signal and in most cases on a car Flow is not an issue, except when things are moving, like headlights.

I don't think that there is supposed to be any restrictions in the metal line. I would guess that it ended up there by accident. These lines are a PIA to get back in whithe the engine and tranny in place.

While I was waiting for my new transmission, I ran a hose from the fitting on the intake to the modulator valve. The transmission worked fine and this was much greater ID than the steel line. I think you'll be fine cutting the line to fit.
