Hard Cold Starting
My 454 with an Edelbrock carb won't start cold anymore.
When I looked, there wasn't hardly any fuel in the carb so I replaced the (mechanical) fuel pump and filter and carb filter to no avail. The line from the tank is also clear.
I can start it with a little gas poured into the top of the carb and then it will run fine.
Any guesses as to the issue?

Actually the choke is not functional...I'll fix that first.
It was timed a year ago, but not too many miles ago.
Any other ideas such as fuel draining out of the carb back to the fuel pump or into the engine?
