Well this probably sounds weird, probably why I couldn't find a single word or sentence to make it a poll choice.
But for me it's therapy..either tinkering, or cruising for hours listening to music, or whatever, it's nice to get away for a while. Back to when life was a little simpler. i got my monies worth.
You've got it about right. I love cruising in my 74. Too bad my '68 don't run. My Vettes are my way to get away from it all. I cruise, wash, Zanio, and care for my Vettes and usually forget about all the other things in my life. Man I wish I was old enough to drive my '74 instead of my aunt having to drive me though. Oh well.. I guess I'll have to wait 3 more years.:chevy
For me it's all of the above. I cruise, drag race, hot rod, auto X, and do car shows. Basically spending as much time as I can doing something with it. As for listening to the radio? No thanks I ratter listen to the rumble of headers and near open exhaust.
The only time I go out in mine is with my kids to get treats (ice cream, coffee and beer)! This is the neighbor hood joke as my buddy uses his for the same purpose, but he also get his cigerettes.

I like to think mine is used for therapy, Sometines I come home after a bad day, and just sit in it and begin to feel better. Driving it has even better results.
I regret to say that mine has seen many uses as a work truck. I built a removable rack out of PVC which mounts to the luggage rack to enable me to haul 4x8 plywood,12' 2x12's and other large materials. I've had 600 lbs of concrete and topsoil riding on the back deck with fence posts sticking out the passenger side. A guy at the Home Depot grinned at me one day and said "Nice truck!". :bb
EVER HEARD THE TERM, "YOU GOTTA LOVE IT"? I REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST GOT MY 68, I HIT ALL THE VETTE SWAP MEETS WITH A DIRTY RAG IN ONE BACK POCKET, A PARTS REF BOOK IN THE OTHER, AND DUG THRU THE PILES OF USED VETTE PARTS. YOU MEET GREAT FOLKS THAT WAY, GREAT CONVERSATION, AND AS YOU TALK, THE PRICE TENDS TO GET LOWER AS THE FOLKS YOU ARE DEALING WITH GETS TO KNOW YOU, AND REALIZES YOU ARE DOING YOUR OWN THING. OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS, I CAME UP WITH THE PROPER SHIFT CONSOLE PLATE, STEERING WHEEL, DASH, LOTS OF UNDER HOOD HARDWARE, CONV TOP FRAME, THAT ALL IT NEEDED WAS CLEANING UP. SAVED BIG BUCKS, AND HAD A GOOD TIME DOING IT. I LOVE SEACHING THRU ALL THE USED, GOOPED UP STUFF, AND RESTORING THEM. ALL YOU NEED IS A CHEAP SANDBLASTER, SPAY PAINT, OR PAINT STRIPPER, VERY BASIC MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE, AND ALMOST EVERY USED PART OUT THERE CAN BE REUSED. I STILL DO IT CRUISING FOR OLD, RESTORABLE PARTS THAT I MIGHT NEED IN THE FUTURE.
AS FAR AS THE POLE GOES, IM GOING FOR ABUSING THE ENGLISH LANGAUGE. I CUSS LIKE A SAILOR WHEN I'M WRENCHING
Well NCRS and concourse aren't the same thing. NCCC is more like concourse. Have you EVER looked at a bowtie candidate at a NCRS meet with 30 or 40 years of accumulated rust and corrosion? I'd hardly consider that concourse.
FWIW, All of the above, including NCRS - but not concourse. :D ~Juliet
