Default 1969 Corvette Question

I have a 69 BB coupe and some guy was telling me that all 69s had alarms. I thought that it was an option. I was wondering if the guy was right. Thanks in advance.

The corvette black book says in 69 an alarm was a $26.35 option. It was standard on a 72. :D

Optional. They did not all have alarms. Became standard about '72.

Mine didn't come with an alarm.

Suposedly they treaded off alarms for the fiber optic system, I think they both are a waste of money back then, and a pain in the butt now.

Ahh.... but were you riding around in 1969 when the Po-lice were stopping people (usually for dumb reasons) just to increase the probability of racking up another marijuana bust?

The fiber optic system let you know at a glance if the cop was lying.

Yup. It happened.

Maybe now it is relatively useless, but back then, it served a valid purpose, albeit not what GM had intended.
Now, from DeLorean's perspective... heh heh

:)

I have an alarm key switch on the back of the car. Was this the option location? Was it a "dealers choice" location?

The key for 69 alarms is in the back, above the "CORVETTE" logo. This was a factory option, not a dealer installed option, so they're all in the same place. The lock for 69 is smaller than the ones used in later years. It used a special Briggs and Stratton key, not one of the keys used for the doors, ignition, or glove box. Chuck

Thanks for the info Chuck! Mine is located above the Corvette logo. Now, I will need to track down a Key that works or replace the tumbler, track down the wires etc.. This is great, now I have a weekend project. Dave

I know this picture is TOO BIG...I'm working on that...Sorry
