We had a track day (circuit) recently and rather than tell one of my kids (son 19 & daughter 21) that one couldn't drive (only 2 drivers allowed per car) I decided to get them both track licences and give them the car for the day.
The end result was that my daughter won a trophy for the most consistent female driver.
I do limit them on the street, but let them have their head on the track. I trusted them and they didn't let me down. When on the start line, my son even shut the car down and called me over when the oil gauge acted up. It was just the guage, but it showed that he was totally aware of the car and it's operation.
I would let my dad drive it but he doesnt really want to that much hes only driven it around the block once. I let my brother drive it around an empty parking lot for his birthday. No one else will probly ever drive it except maybe on the autox course if I drive thier car too.
The last time I let someone else drive, it was a good friend who drag races an 11 sec MOPAR car (N/A). She nearly peed herself driving from the house to the grocery store (approx 1 mi)...and now just prefers to ride shotgun.
The only other person that has driven my Vette since Ive owned it was my son. My wife and daughter just don't want to drive it. They love to ride in it, but I can't get them to drive it. I think its because it does not have power brakes.
When I first got the car and friends would drool over it I'd ask if they want to take it for a spin.. They would just laugh.. no one took me up on it.. I have to force my wife to get behind the wheel. The last time out she was shifting WAY TO early.. 2nd while doing 20mph.. going to 3rd at 30mph.. Car was bogging down.. The only shift car she ever drove was her Subaru.. I told her to get on it and I'll tell you when to shift. It didn't come naturally to her and she didn't seem to enjoy it.. Oh well, now I don't push her to drive it anymore.. :yesnod:
Let a brother drive my first vette back in the 70's while I was out of state. After he told me on the way home from the airport he had wrecked it. :cry :cry He doesn't have enough money to get me to let him drive any of the vettes :D :D
I let my best friend drive my 'Vette once. I also let my girlfriend drive it from time to time....almost time for a new throwout bearing and clutch plate ;)

Do you ever let anyone else drive??
Not anymore :nonod: :nonod: The last time I let a friend drive my vette was 1987. That little 1 mile round trip cost $13000 and 5 months without my car. :mad   The owner of the Corvette restoration/body shop that I had it towed to told me that 80% of the repair work he did was a result of people sharing their Vettes with friends.
My wife doesn't drive a stick and has no interest in learning (and she won't be learning on my 75). The only other person who has driven my car in the 18 years that I have owned it is my son-in-law who helped me install SS calipers.
Scary  We got on the highway and were going about 40 in second. He was taking it real easy but when he went to shift to third, he somehow went back into first.
Would you let Brittney Spears (sp?) drive it?
LOL I thought about that when my buddy shifted into first. Real glad he was taking it easy and shifting early.

I agree. My dad taught both my sister and myself how to drive a standard with the '76 'Vette. My mom got to learn how to drive a standard with his '69 427/425HP 'Vette....lucky women. My dad said that she went to pull out (unknowingly in 3rd gear) the engine bogged ever so slightly and it took right off :). I believe the 4.56 rear end may have had something to do with that ;)
