does anyone ever let anyone else drive their car?? aftrer i had my 73 for a year or two i became more liberal. i do not think that will happen with this one..... :mad
Funny you should ask. I've offered several times, but I get no takers. I think it's because they're afraid something might happen and they'd be responsible. Or they're a bit intimidated by the 406 snarling through the chambered exhaust.
The only person I let drive my car is my father. Since he had a 69 vette with 13-inch slicks and drove it daily I figure he can handle my car. BTW I drove my vette to Junior and Senior Prom.

My neighbor let me drive his pristine '66 327 the other day. It was incredible, and I don't know why he let me. I've known him probably less than a year, but we talk Vettes a lot. It was a stick and I was damn nervous, but it was a hell of an experience (my first drive of a Corvette).
I don't even get to drive mine, but I do have plans for when I can. Just for reference, it will be a 500+HP '68 454. I only plan to let 3 people in the world drive it. One is my uncle who gave me the basket case. Two is my dad, if he can handle Ferrari's that he just put back in tune, he can handle this. Three is my buddy Richard if he absolutely won't let me get away with it. He lets me drive his '90 Mustang 5.0 GT quite a bit, and even though it's a completely different beast, I kinda owe it to him. But he definitely needs more stick experience first (his wimpy 5.0 is a stick).
Other than that, I honestly don't think I'll let anyone drive it, unless they let me drive whatever they've got (of equal or greater value :) ).
My buddies youngest was heading of to boot camp a few weeks ago and I figured it was the least I could do for him in light of all that he is going to do for us. A completely harmelss ride around the town so he could be seen before shipping off---Yes I was with him! :flag

About a month ago I let my friend drive it with me in it. Scary  We got on the highway and were going about 40 in second. He was taking it real easy but when he went to shift to third, he somehow went back into first. (wish they had a smiley for someone needing to change their shorts) Luckily all it did was squeal the tires a bit since it doesn't hit redline until 50MPH in first. Still scared the crap out of me. I guess if I let anyone else drive it, they're going to have to go through the gears while sitting in the driveway before we hit the road. Not taking anymore chances. The only person to drive it without me in it is my dad, afterall, he's the original owner.
Yeah, I've let a few co workers drive it when I first bought it, and now that I am trying to sell it, I am letting more people get behind the wheel. Its a funny feeling to let someone drive a car that you have spent so much time making the way you want it to be!!
I drive mine 99% of the time but sometimes I will let my 17 year old brother drive it to a High School Dance or other event. I plan to paint mine soon... And I am not sure if he'll drive it after that. :)
You know I just let a friend drive mine and he came back after 15 minutes and said he was afraid he'd break something. I don't like to let folks drive it, not because I'm selfish but because Murphy's law follows me around like a little cloud. I loan that out, or borrow someone elses, and trains would be jumping tracks to hit it. parked cars of uninsured motorists would have parking brakes fail to run into it! I'm just not a lucky enough guy to loan it out on a regular basis

Yup. My husband, my Dad, my brother. When my daughter is old enough to drive, I'll probably let her drive too - though I'm sure I'll hang good grades and behavior yadda yadda over her head first! I tried to talk my best girlfriend into going to the track with me so I could race both vettes that day - she would have - but had a prior committment. Come spring though I'll drag her butt to the track! Why not share the fun? ~Juliet :seeya
Yep, anyone who asks and is legal to drive. I wasn't even to first person to drive my vette when I bought it. I let the guy who went with me to pick it up drive it back. I have even let other people take it down the 1/4 mile strip and wouldn't you know they had a better e.t and mph than me. I don't have the nicest vette out there and it would probably be another story if I had put in as much money as a lot of other folks out there.
