Default Headlights?

Hi all,
My headlights don't go up when the light switch is pulled. But , they go up and down perfect when the manual lever under the column is used. Would this be a bad relay?
Thanks

Are you sure all the vacuum hoses are hooked up correctly? I don't think you should be able to raise the lights with the lever under the column.

The switch is an over ride giving you the ability to raise and lower the headlights independent of the headlight switch. If the override operates them but the headlight switch does not then you probably have a leak or a connection problem at the switch or on one of the lines to the switch.

I would start there. If the relays or actuators were bad they would not go up and down at the control of the override switch.

So the vac. lines come righT From the switch? What's the easiest way to get at the switch to check connections first?

Remove the screws that hold the side of the knee pad to the A-pillar, remove the screws that go into the upped dash pad, and gently pull the panel out a bit. Be careful, because everything is still connected and you don't want to put too much pressure on anything. You will have access to the headlight switch.

The feed from the engine goes to the headlight switch, a jumper goes to the override switch, and a line goes from the override switch to the vacuum tank.
