Default tach problems

I've got a balky tach in my 75 ragtop. Starts at about 6,000 and goes backward to around 4500. Seems to go up and down some times when driving. Do the rebuild kits work for this kind of crap? Is it the suppressor? Does somebody know someone that rebuilds these things?

I posted a similar thread recently, the best advice I've heard is to find a better chassis ground. I will be giving this a try next time I get a chance.

Default I'd try 2 things before replacing the tach board....

1. Ensure that I have a good ground.

2. Make your own tach filter (about 2 bucks in parts).

If that works, then you're home free. If not, then I'd remove the tach and replace the tach board.

I sent mine to Redline Clock and Gauge Repair. They did a great job. Can't give you the address at the moment but you would probably be able to Google it.
