Default Headlamp Help

We have a 1979 'Vette. The high beams will not operate. The low beams will. We tried changing the high beam bulbs, still no luck... Any suggestions?

Does the "brights" indicator light come on? Have you checked your fuses? Tried a test light? Maybe bad luck with bulbs, maybe a bad switch, or just plain bad wiring. Try one of you low beam bulbs on the high beam socket first, or if you have an ohm meter, you can test the high beam bulbs with that.

Look for a kink in any of the wires running to the lights if none then try troubleshooting your dimmer switch.... the book says if High beam inoperatable and you've done the obvious switch out the headlight...the next step is the dimmer switch which I believe from looking at my diagram is also the turn signal switch as well... You'll have to remove the steering wheel according to the book.

Default high beam

There is a plug under the dash on the side of the steering column that you should check. If not plugged in correctly the high beams won't work.

Can you tell me exactly where this switch is? I have changed out the bulbs with new high beams. I am not sure where the switch is. Thanks for your help!!!
