Default Differential dilemma

I have an 80 that had a reblt diff put in along with new u joints and wheel bearings and one new yoke and one recond. There was noise comming from the diff as you would slow down for a stop. Like an axle noise. Took it back and they agreed there was a problem so they contacted their supplier in LA and they sent out another. No additional labor charges for this one but it makes the same noises and also has a whinning noise when you take your foot off the gas at higher speeds. I am out alot of money and don't know what to do at this point. The mech that did the install said to give it a couple hundred miles. I have about 100 on it now and I can't see it curing itself. Got any ideas as to what action to take next??? Thanks, Jay

You siad they replaced something. If you are talking about the differential, then the second one is not set up proberly either. I had the same noise on acceleration and coasting. I bought a rebuilt form Bair's put it in myself and noise is gone. I don't know who the rebuilder is, but you want to use someone that rebuilds vette rear ends on a constant basis. 1980 thru 82 do not use a crush sleeve, but instead are shimmed. If the shimming is not right you get the noise.

I'm sure others will chime in and give better technical advise.

Maybe this will work for you. He is selling a complete rear end.
