Default Carb ID

I'll be right up front, I have never been a big Holley fan (Edelbrock, Q-jet) but there was one sitting on my vette ever since I bought it and it runs ever so beautiful, (I still cant get the wipers to work) but I want to ID the carb, the list numbers stamped on the airhorn are 8055-1 with 2665 right beneath it. Can any of the Holley fans tell me what size and model carb it is? I have googled and searched and the Holley website was absolutely no help at all.

Are you sure it's not an 80551..? The 80551 is a model 4160, 600cfm, vacuum secondary, electric choke, single inlet marine carb. Does that fit the description of your carb, or do you have something different?

its a regular 4bbl Holley, the one you described is what I came up with at the Holley site. Here are all the numbers off the carb:

on the air horn on the main body
8055-1 7445 8R-5263-B
2665 6

with electric choke.

list #8055 is a 71-2 chevy 307 model #2280 2bbl replacement carb for a rochester 2bbl so the # must be mis-stamped if it is a 4bbl

its definitely a 4 bbl. The last owner said he had just put it on there right before I bought it. It looks and runs excellent. Previous owner has since moved, reason he sold the car, to somewhere in FL. I guess I'll run it till she drops then change it out. Thanks for the efforts!

Thank you! Picture is always worth a thousand words!

I could have copied the number down wrong, I had to borrow my wife's reading glasses to see it, but I checked it twice. Its hell getting old, but it's sure been fun getting there.
