Default Backfire
I have a 78 with a stock 350. @ wot it is breaking up and backfiring through the carb. At part throttle I have no problem. Wires, plugs, cap, coil and fuel pump are less than a year old. Timing is ok.

What is the timing exactly? Initial and @ 2700 rpm...

Initial is at 4 degrees BTDC

The carburetor is leaning out at WOT and you need more initial advance. Like say 12 degrees BTDC. Then you can begin the tuning process.
