Default Help! electrical problem, vette won't start

I drove my car to town tonight ('73 b/b), left it parked for a couple hours, and then went out to start it to leave; it cranked over a few times and then it electrically went dead; no click, no gauge lights, no nothing. I gave it a couple minutes and everything randomly came back; I tried starting again and it started to crank and then went dead again. This happened a few times and now it's just dead. The battery is fine since when it got power again the headlights came on bright and all... I checked battery cables and such and everything was tight. It's too dark/cold right now to do any more so I got a ride home and I'll have to get the car going in the morning. Any ideas on what to check next?

First clean the battery cables, checking for tightness is not good enough.Second check where your neg. battery cable attaches to the frame just under the battery box, they corrode and make bad connections.Third check the connection at the starter solenoid and make sure its tight.

Since the battery cables mainly run under the car, a slight nick can cause the cable to corrode inside the outter sheath, and without a lift it can be very easy to overlook.
