I want to put a multi carb set up on my 70 small block with a stock small block hood.. dual quads, tri power... either set up. I run an edelbrock 2101 now and edelbrock has a dual quad manifold thats approx 3/8 of an inch lower for more hood clerance. Anyone running dual quads on a 68-72 sbc vette? Is it possible with a small block hood. How about a factory big block hood????... If GM was able to sqweeze a bb with tri power under there, a dual quad set up should fit??? Maybe??
Any photos or knowledge would be helpfull.....
I assume 73-82 is a differant clearance, but i'm probibly wrong, didnt mean to exclude those years.........
I'm also interested in trying to squeeze a tri-power set up under a stock SB hood. I talked to summit for fun, they said the three deuce intake is about a half in taller, and the 2BBL carbs are definitely taller than the 4 BBL. I would love to do this switch, but really want to keep my stock hood.
Anyone squeeze these tripower set ups under their stock SB hood?
The factory BB 3x2 manifold is pretty low and isn't the most efficient thing around. Don't know about carb height specs, but I'd bet the Holleys are shorter than most. That said, a stock, non LT-1 SB hood is really gonna make it tough. Even with my BB hood on the 3x2, if I use the wrong wing-nut, it'll hit!
If you could figure out a way to lose the filter(s) off the top, that would help as well, but you would have make a plenum and remote can. Kinda' defeats the purpose... Face it, it's all about the look because it sure isn't about performance and ease of maintenance!

..... acording to the '07 Edelbrock catalg, the 2101 has a 'carb pad-height' (top-of-block to CL of carb-pad ) of 4.05":
the #5425 (C-26 ) dual-quad intake is shown at 3.25", the #5419 (C-357-B ) three-dueces intake is 4.25", and the #7525 (RPM Air-Gap dual-quad ) is listed at 4.89" carb pad-height

I thought the three carb set up gave better performance. Thats why I was leaning towards this set up, plus its something different.
I have the edlebrock setup. I have a 68 vert with a 73-76 med rise hood. There is barely any clearance, but it fits with a little air cleaner adjustment.

You are welcome to PM me with specific questions.
Thats interesting, so you're saying you have the stock hood and no clearance problems? can you post a hoodview picture of your vette?
Very Cool... exactly the look i want!! Can i ask the model number of the manifold? Is it an edelbrock 5425? . Are the air cleaners a custom made drop base? Any idea how much clearance was added when you changed the hood? How did you hook up the vaccuum for the headlights? The edelbrock dual quad didnt have a port. Did you ever put soft play-doe on the air cleaner and close the hood, then measure the space left? I realise theres alot of questions here, but the set up is cheap if it fits, but costly if it don't!.. Thank You!
