This is the motor mount I found when I got my 73'. Car is a small block by the vin, and has a 350, so why the space between the block and the mount? Is this Bubba's way of putting a small block in a big block frame, or is it just the wrong motor mount? I haven't found the vin on the frame to verify the frame matches the body, and wasn't sure if there is a difference between big block and small block frames?
Yo!
Just a thought,
At first glance, it looks like the right mount from the pic. Maybe they raised the motor to get the right angles for the driveshaft u-joints. The angle between the tranny and driveshaft and the angle between the driveshaft and the diff need to be the same or real close or you can get a wicked vibration. I went through it all. Ended up raising the tranny and raising the front of the diff to get rid of a bad vibration.
If you remove the spacer and pick up a vibration, put it back in.
The give-away for me is the header peeking into the picture. Bet if you drop it, the header hits something or hangs too low. That's gotta mess with the hood clearance!
Both sides are the same. I'm running Hooker super-comp headers as the car came that way. I've got real problems with hood clearance as Bubba also installed a truck 350 with a square bore performer RPM intake with a Q-Jet from an 80' olds?? and a 1" square to spread adapter. If these cars weren't so awesome, this wouldn't be worth it. What a learning experience this is becoming!!
There must have been a reason for it, check everything real close. Could have been a header clearance issue or drivetrain vibration issue... or something else who knows. Did the truck motor come with a truck oil pan? Could have been an oil pan to steering cylinder clearance issue. Buy a C3 motor mount from an autoparts store to compare the dimensions, if they're the same you can just return it.
Isn't the truck block a tall deck block. Then I would assume the block would hit something like the brakebooster etc and could have been the reason to pull a trick like that.

No tall deck small blocks in stock form. The pictures appear to be a small block, but still a good thought.

Man, this is the best description for how I feel dealing with mine I have ever come across! Except I may exchange other phrases for "learning experience".
