Default odometer not working

Installed a new cable on my 68' and the speedometer is working but not the trip or miles odometer. Is the cable not engauging correctly or is my odometer shot? This is a project car so I don't know if it worked for the previous owner.

Default Odometer

You might try lubricating the gears inside the speedometer with graphite and lubricating the reset cable might help. I think resetting the trip odometer can cause the odometer to sometimes jam.

I was hoping that I would not have to take the speedometer back out of the car as it was a real PITA. Why did'nt GM make all the dash assembly a pigtail plug hook up?

Unfortunately, you will likely have to take the speedo back out to replace the worm gear in the odometer. They are made of nylon and regularly wear out.

Corvette Central sells a brass replacment gear that I would recommend.
