Default Rally Wheel Painting

I'm trying to repaint my wheels. After sanding them and cleaning them with silicone remover I still am getting fish eyes. Looks like sh_t!! Using VHT paint I've used before with good results. Not sure how to fix this. Any experience with this??

I like wiping my surfaces with lacquer thinner. Did you prime the wheel before you shot the final coat? I have seen the fish eye occur when you just shoot some paints directly on to the surface thats why i like to primer first.

You may have put too heavy a coat down. If the Argent Silver paint "pool", you can get that problem. Multiple light coats give better results than one heavy coat.

Most likely oil on there.. armor all or tire shine...
clean of with paint thinner and you'll rock.

Paint thinner!! I never thought about that. I assumed I would need silicone remover to clean them first. Can I now do the thinner over the fresh paint I've laid down and then just re-spray them?? Thanks for this info. I was thinking I would have to bead blast them.

It's best to start over and use the paint thinner to prepare the surface prior to applying any paint.

I just painted mine last monday. I sand blasted them, wiped them down with laquer thinner, then used krylon primer, then sprayed them with the silver. No problems at all and they look a lot better.

I had the same problem although I sprayed the paint over a cleaned painted surface. Just wipe the fish eye area while still wet--it smears the paint but will get covered up with the next coat. I gave mine 4 coats and they look great.
