Default Radiator Surround

Has anyone changed out their radiator surround? Any tips or advice? What started as a switch out of a bad caliper has lead to rotors, suspension disassembly, and removal of front bumper and grills. The front cross member was rusted out on one side so I got a new one to install. I removed the old cross member and found that the bottom of the radiator surround is rusted so I want to get that out as well. I assume I've got to get the shroud and radiator out first. Any help would be great.

It's actually called a radiator core support, for when you're looking for one. You're on the right track about what you have to do to replace it and it's really not that hard assuming you have the new one ready to go.

The core support is actually supporting the front end of the car as well, so when it comes out the nose will sink unless supported properly and make sure it's all aligned right before you tighten the bolts back in.

I think having the hood removed may help prevent that. You know how long my radiator support was out with a partially-unbonded fender. The front end didn't twitch.
