I tried for the 1st time yesterday the HOT STUFF manifold dressing material. The outcome was very poor.
I cleaned throughly with a wire brush then also wped down with Acetone
I applied a thin coat with a tooth brush and allowed to dry outside for 2 hrs. Car is not able to be started so I placed in a 275 degree oven for 1 hour.
once removed there were several raised bubbles and the finish that peeled right off in many places.

Coincidentaly, I just used the stuff on a set of manifolds for a 59 vette we are restoring. The manifolds were new. I didnt even clean them. Dumped the stuff on them, then heated them up with our shop heat lamp and they were fine.No issues. I am thinking maybe the acetone might have something to do with it. I understand the acetone dries fast, but there may have been traces of it and reacted with the coating. Obviously the surface was clean(after the acetone so there was no oil on there right?

Some sort of contamination (oil?) soaked into the metal? Try pre-heating at 350-450 for a while and see if you can cook some crud out.
I just did mine with the same bubbles after heating. I think in my case I put too thick of a coat in some places. I just cleaned them up with a red scotch pad and put on a second coat which turned out well.
