Default LM1 Basic vs. RPM

What is the difference between the basic LM1 kit and the RPM kit? Does the basic kit not provide AFR information througout the rpm range?

I want to be able to hold this thing in my hand, drive down the street WOT and see what's going on. Will the basic kit do this?

The best way to use it is to get the RPM kit and record your runs, then you can see the AF at a corresponding RPM on you PC or laptop. It you get it without the RPM add on it won't be long before you are paying to have it shipped out to you.

It is very hard to hold the device at WOT and see what is going on, especially if you have a coffee going at the same

Actually I am not kidding, from experience you record your data and analyze it on your PC, make some changes and keep doing that until it is tuned properly

Believe me you DON'T want to be looking at some data screen while blasting down the road! Get the RPM kit and bring a laptop along to record data!

I don't know if you have seen my thread on using the LM-1 on my car but here it is: CLICK HERE

Definetly get the LM-1 with the RPM converter, it will save you like $20 . I just spliced into the tach output on my MSD digital 7 box that I have conviently have mounted in the glovebox. It gets its power from the cigarette lighter plug. You can still get a decent reading without the converter if all your interested in is tuning WOT, thats easy to see on the graph if you start the record session right when your ready to go. But I wanted to make sure my cruising AFR was on spot too. Luckily I was on the money with that. All I needed was a quick change of secondary jets to make my mark. This thing beats having to spend alot $ at a dyno to use there AFR equip and if you make any changes after the dyno session thats more $ to check it again, unless you know the shop owner.
