I have that cam(with 1.6 rockers) in a 383 with 180cc heads and it is mild. About 16.5 inches of vacuum at 800rpm

That's what I was thinking, that it may be too mild.

But then I could replace it with the XR276HR, or the XR282HR. Just don't know if the last one would be overkill.

I'm open to comments/suggestions for other cams too, and about the rest of the parts.
Just figured I could reuse the other Comp-Cam roller hardware he has there already if I use one of the cams I mentioned.

The 282 would not be overkill.

Not enough cam for the AFRs as noted - but otherwise that's a VERY nice combo!

Not sure why this would be a clue; if they're using a new GM block and changing from bolts to studs AND putting in a new crank I'd align hone it too. Many crate engines start with the new GMPP blocks...as do I for ground-up builds.

Good catch regarding pistons; brand and P/N would be good

ON a stroker the cam will not be as rough as on a std. bore 350. You can also shop by LSA and if you investigate/shop/add that to the list/ you will have lots of options.

Main align honing it to ensure the crankshaft bearing bore is concentric across all of the bearing saddles and to ensure correct bearing crush for each cap. Basically, it makes sure the crank bearing bore is the round, the right size and in-line. If things are way out of whack - or the engine's spun a main bearing - an align bore is sometimes required.

An align hone is required if the type of main cap fastner is changed (bolts to studs) and is generally recommended if you're spinning the engine regularly past 5500 RPM. There's a lot of debate on this - Vizard has a tendency to recommend doing a mock-up and if the crank spins freely leave it, but Yunick's take was "don't even check it - just align hone it". I generally align hone the block for a new crank, but that's just my experience.
