read, read, read the timing & tuning papers here ... Lars & BarryK have some ... study until you do understand & know ... get a dialback light & know how to use it.
If I were you, I'd learn carb tune/ jet change before I'd just go buy another carb that'd probably need same too.
Maybe send your carb & distributor out to CF member lars for his expert freshening & tuning ... Lars has many satisfied customers.
at this point. would be willing to pay lars way over here to fix my car.
Just box up your carb and distributor and UPS them to Lars. He'll do 'em up right and send them back in a couple weeks [or so] and you won't have the problem any more.
i would start with using heavier springs in the dizzy.sounds like it is advancing too quickly.then i would be checking timing before i sent anything anywhere or bought something else.i would be running 98 oct premium fuel as well.
I don't know how you can run even 93 octane with 11:1 cr without having to back off so much on the timing, and even then, when the motor gets hot, pinging will likely occur. That's probably why the previous owner ran av gas in the car. That's OK if you don't drive much and don't mind paying an arm and a leg for fuel.
You can back off the timing, run larger jets, but I don't think you'll overcome the problem even with all of that.
