Just purchased an "80" Coupe which is in need of some TLC.
Can anyone tell me what size the rivet is that holds the rear rotors on? My shop manual says the rivet heads must be drilled out to remove the rotor, if this is so then what holds the rotor in place when it is re-installed?

Also were the original calipers stainless steel lined?

Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Lets see some pics of your car.

I don't know the size of the rivet but I drilled it out by starting with a small bit, and working up in size until the rivet popped out with a punch.

Upon re-installation, you don't need the rivets. The rotors will be held in place by the lip on the hub, the wheel studs, wheel over rotor, and lug nuts torqued down to spec.

That's the way it's done. Just have sharp drill bits as it speeds the job.

Welcome to the forum. You will find lots of knowledgeable people here willing to help. As far as the rotors, match mark them to the hub or something, drill the rivets out and don't give them a second thought. The calipers were not stainless lined. But, stainless lined ones can be bought at Autozone or such. Just make sure to torque the caliper halves when you get the new calipers mounted.
