Save your money and buy any over the counter Diesel rated motor oil like a Shell Rotella. You will get the same level of protection at a fraction of the price.

^^^ agreed. Looks like this guy is just having standard 15W-40 diesel oil rebottled and marked up.

Just get the CI-4 Delo, Delvac or Rotella from Wal-Mart for almost half price.

Re-read the article again. According to it, the Rotella oils are going to be reducing the zinc/phosphorus, too.

In the CJ-4 ratings, they already have.

The CI-4 rating still has the full amount of ZDDP and it is still available.

I just bought a case of gallons Shell Rotella 15-40. It is 6 sealed bottles and I know they are at least 4 years old. Rating on the bottles is CH4, CG4/SI. What do I have?

You have the older, hi-concentration stuff and it's good. The last of the older, hi-conc stuff was "CI4 Plus" ... the reduced version for 2007 is "CJ" and remain a very good oil w/ plenty ZDDP in it.

Yeah you right, in the gallon jugs it's getting tough.

Just talked to my NAPA guy and he said no more CI-4 Rotella in gallon jugs, but can still get it in pails (5 gallon) for $44.
